The Riga Business School (RBS) Choir, directed by conductor Einārs Verro, was a special guest of the Embassy of Latvia on the evening of Tuesday July 7, 2009.   The event, co-sponsored by the Latvian Chamber of Commerce in the Americas and the US Baltic Foundation was held at the embassy to bring together the singers, all successful, mid to top level managers, entrepreneurs, and company owners, with local business professionals.  The attendees had the pleasure of hearing a brief excerpt of RBS’ North American tour repertoire.

Latvian Ambassador, and Honorary LatCham member, Andrejs Pildegovics, addressed the singers and local business professionals before the brief concert, highlighting the importance of creating business ties between Latvia’s professionals and those of the United States to promote trade and economic success.  The Ambassador pointed out that this is the right time to focus on building relationships even given the challenges of the current world economy.

Gustav Plato, founder and board director of LatCham, also addressed the attendees reinforcing the message of the Ambassador, urging everybody to reach out to the Latvian Chamber of the Americas and consider it a valuable resource for the businesses and organizations they represent in Latvia.

Jānis Grēviņš, Director of the Business School also expressed his sincere appreciation for the opportunity and clearly reinforced RBS desire to achieve world class business school status.

After the singers performed, hors devours, wine and beer were served, as the singers mingled with DC-Metro area business people and forged what many hoped are the beginnings of long term relationships.  The evening ended in timely fashion as the singers prepared for their Kennedy Center performance on July 8, 2009.  See the Kennedy Center RBS Program.
