The timing of the LatCham business conference, Supply Chain Venture Forum, in May 2009 in Washington DC comes at a time that Latvia is making the world press as a transit point for U.S. military shipments.
The Latvian Defense Ministry Announced that 20-30 trainloads per week will be moving U.S. supplies from Latvia to Afghanistan. Each could carry 100 containers. This supply route is being formed as Kyrgyzstan announced the closure of a U.S. airbase.
