The Latvian Chamber of Commerce in the Americas wishes everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.

The following picture is from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' State Library and shows Americas rich heritage and love for these great birds, the wild turkey, which are native to North America.

Author: John James Audubon
Title: Wild Turkey, 1830
Description: Plate I, O.P. I, One Species, 38 1/8 x 25 1/2
Current Name: Wild Turkey, Meleagris gallopavo

The Audubon Society writes the following about the artist.

"John James Audubon (1785-1851) was not the first person to attempt to paint and describe all the birds of America (Alexander Wilson has that distinction), but for half a century he was the young country’s dominant wildlife artist. His seminal Birds of America, a collection of 435 life-size prints, quickly eclipsed Wilson’s work and is still a standard against which 20th and 21st century bird artists, such as Roger Tory Peterson and David Sibley, are measured."

Audubon's web site writes that their "mission is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity."

As we give thanks for that which we have, let us think about the gift of giving to others. Gifts to the Audubon society can be made at the following web site: https://loon.audubon.org/payment/donate/CDGFT.html
