It was with great pleasure and honor that I participated in the NASDAQ stock exchange closing bell ceremony on July 22, 2011 with the Prime Minister of Latvia, Valdis Dombrovskis. I was greeted by beautiful moving images of Latvia, both urban and pastoral, that were superimposed continuously on the semi-circular NASDAQ building in Times Square for the hundreds of thousands of New York City pedestrians to see.

The President of Latvia, Valdis Zatlers, on Saturday moved to dissolve the Latvian parliament. He took these steps after the parliament blocked a corruption probe being led by the judicial branch of the Latvian government.

December 2010 marks the beginning of a new era for Latvian business growth and expansion with the foundation of the Latvian British Chamber of Commerce (LBCC).

On March 11, 2010, Latvian Chamber Board Members Juris Lazdins and Gustav Plato traveled to Capitol Hill to meet with Gerald Connolly, who represents Virginia's 11th Congressional District. The 11th District encompasses Fairfax County, Prince William County, and Fairfax City in Northern Virginia.
