On May 28, 2009, the Northern Virginia Regional Commission (NVRC) and the Latvian Chamber of Commerce held a reception to celebrate the opening of the Chamber's Office at NVRC headquarters. The evening events included remarks by Mark Gibb, Executive Director of NVRC; Gustav Plato, CEO of iiGrowth LLC and the Director of the Board of the Latvian Chamber; Ambassador Andrejs Pildegovics of the Republic of Latvia; Hal Parrish, Mayor, City of Manassas / Chairman, Northern Virginia Regional Commission; and Sharon Bulova, Chairman, Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. This was followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony. Guests had the opportunity to sample Latvian Pīrāgi, Kliņģeris (a coffee cake), and other foods eaten at typical Baltic receptions.
