The Latvian Chamber of Commerce in the Americas (LatCham) launched its New York/New Jersey Chapter on November 21, 2009. The festive event was held in New York's famous Estonian House located in downtown Manhattan. Twenty-eight attendees gathered for an evening of lively business and social discussions. Brigita Rumpeters (Merill Lynch), LatCham Board Member and Director of the NY/NJ Chapter was the Master of Ceremonies.

The Director of the Board of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce, Gustav Plato, addressed a packed house at the Mayflower Hotel in May 2009. The brief presentation discussed the role of the Chamber in building the Baltic Brand, the vision to increase trade ten-fold, and recognized the founding members of the Chamber.

Aleks Racenis worked as LatCham's summer intern this summer. He did an outstanding job and helped the Chamber mature its communications and outreach efforts. The entire board of the Chamber extends our warmest appreciation for a job well done.

The Riga Business School (RBS) Choir, directed by conductor Einārs Verro, was a special guest of the Embassy of Latvia on the evening of Tuesday July 7, 2009. The saying “List ka Janos”……that it always rains on St. John’s Day held true yet again, as it typically does in Latvia- the Jani festival was held rain or shine in Priedaine, where the LatCham banner inauguration was held.
