The Director of the Board of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce, Gustav Plato, addressed a packed house at the Mayflower Hotel in May 2009. The brief presentation discussed the role of the Chamber in building the Baltic Brand, the vision to increase trade ten-fold, and recognized the founding members of the Chamber.

LatCham, is leading a delegation of Baltic companies to the Port of Baltimore, Maryland. As part of the Supply Chain Venture Forum, Baltic companies including ports, rail, shipping, logistics, warehousing, and technology companies are heading to Baltimore today to learn more about entering the US market and to meet with Maryland based companies.

The Supply Chain Venture Forum Kicks off on May 13, 2009 at the Latvian Embassy in Washington DC. The third business conference sponsored by the US Baltic Foundation, this is the first conference with the newly formed Latvian Chamber of Commerce in the Americas.

The opening of the Supply Chain Venture Forum begins in Baltimore, Maryland, on Wednesday, May 13, 2009.

The timing of the LatCham business conference, Supply Chain Venture Forum, in May 2009 in Washington DC comes at a time that Latvia is making the world press as a transit point for U.S. military shipments.
The Latvian Defense Ministry Announced that 20-30 trainloads per week will be moving U.S. supplies from Latvia to Afghanistan. Each could carry 100 containers. This supply route is being formed as Kyrgyzstan announced the closure of a U.S. airbase.
